Rice prices today (December 24): Broadly stable
Post Date: 24/12/2025VHO – Rice prices on December 24, 2025 remained stable in the Mekong Delta as end-of-season supply tightened, trading slowed, and the market awaited early-year export signals.
On December 24, 2025, the domestic rice market continued to record a stable situation, with little fluctuation compared to previous sessions. In the Mekong Delta region, prices of freshly harvested paddy and raw rice maintained familiar levels as supply entered the end-of-season phase, while purchasing activities slowed due to a wait-and-see sentiment for new signals from the export market at the beginning of the year.
According to observations in key production areas, field prices of fresh paddy showed no significant changes. Popular rice varieties such as IR 50404, OM 5451, and OM 18 continued to be purchased at price levels similar to those of recent days. The remaining volume of paddy held by farmers is limited, causing transactions to remain largely cautious and mainly aimed at meeting the stable processing demand of rice milling facilities.

Farmers harvest rice in the Mekong Delta as the year-end rice market remains stable with minimal fluctuations.
At the raw rice and retail rice stages, the market has generally remained stable. Ordinary rice and fragrant rice have shown no sharp fluctuations, while specialty and high-quality rice continue to maintain price levels higher than the overall average. Domestic consumption demand toward the year-end has not recorded any clear surge, contributing to keeping the market in a balanced state.
Assessments from traders indicate that rice supply is gradually tightening as the harvest season nears its end; however, purchasing demand is not yet strong enough to create upward price momentum. Most enterprises and traders are closely monitoring export market developments, especially orders expected to be signed after the holiday period.
In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices have continued to remain stable, with no major adjustments compared to previous days. Against the backdrop of relatively abundant global rice supply and increasing competition, exporting enterprises are mainly maintaining a cautious pricing strategy, prioritizing the preservation of market share while waiting for clearer demand signals in early 2026.
OUTLOOK
According to HÙNG NGUYỄN of Văn Hóa Newspaper: “Given the current developments, rice prices in the short term are forecast to continue moving sideways, with little likelihood of strong fluctuations before the transition to the new crop and the peak export period at the beginning of the year. The market is currently in a ‘wait-and-see’ state, awaiting new supply-and-demand factors both domestically and internationally.”
